The tournament was interrupted after Round 2. |
On 27th of August 1949 the Central Comitee of Bulgarian Comunist party decided to reorganize the sports activities in the country. |
They decided to make the sports organization identical to organization in Soviet Union. All sports clubs had to be disbaned. |
In their places were founded "VSO-Voluntary Sports Organizations" based in economic branches. Every sportsman could be incorporated only in VSO conected with his profession. |
The VSO's had identical names in every city - Dinamo, Torpedo, Spartak, Stroitel, Cherveno Zname (Red Flag), DNV, Akademik. |
The organization functioned in this modus until the end of 1956, but virtualy destroyed the traditional sports model. |
The 1949-1950 football season started on 27th August and the clubs tried to implement the decision only changing their names. |
In newspaper "Naroden Sport" on 19th of September in the match analises the clubs apeared with their old names. |
In the classification table there were the new names as follows: Dinamo-Levski, Energiya-Lokomotiv, Stroitel-Slaviya. |
On 27th of September 1949 the Supreme Sports Council elaborated the details how to implement the Party decision. The tournament was over! |
